Wedding Tradition- The Veil

After the last two weeks of writing about wedding traditions it is time that we uncover the veil. This is one piece of wedding attire that has not changed much over the years!

As with all traditions there are a few theories as to how the veil came about.  According to the ancient Greeks and Roman’s, the veil protected  the bride from spirits and demons. Also, because of superstition it prevented the groom from seeing the bride before the ceremony. BAD LUCK!

Lets be honest ladies, when we have our bouquet, big dress, veil over our face, trying to walk down the aisle in 5 inch high Louboutin’s gracefully is a major challenge…cue the father or someone else “giving the bride away.” This role first started as an escort to make sure the bride didn’t trip or run into anything! Not all brides put their veils over their faces but for the ones that do its definitely an asset to have someone help you navigate the aisle.

Veils can be very delicate so don’t leave anything to chance! Make sure you have Mojuba Bride and Groom Wedding Day Emergency Kits on hand to fix even the tiniest wedding emergencies!

P.S. Don’t forget your silver sixpence for your wedding shoes!

MGM Studios gifted Grace an elaborate wedding dress made with 125 year old Brussels rose-point lace in exchange for rights to telvise the wedding service of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier.

Grace’s wedding gown was the most expensive design that Helen Rose, the designer at MGM Studios, had ever made.

Identical triplet sisters say, “I DO” in joint wedding!

Guests at a wedding service saw triple when three identical sisters tied the knot together at the same ceremony.

triplets wedding

Triplets Rafaela, Rochele and Tagiane Bini share the same birthday, the same looks and tastes, and now – after marrying men who look strikingly similar – the same wedding anniversary too.

The 29-year-old sisters, from Passo Fundo, southern Brazil, even wore the same wedding dress, as well as hair style and make up, for their big day on Saturday. A different color bouquet was the only clue to help bewildered family and friends help distinguish one bride from the other. Even the grooms, Rafael, Gabriel and Eduardo – admitted they were worried they might mix up their wives to be when it came to exchanging vows.

The sisters said, like other identical siblings, they have always been close and shared the same tastes and interest since they were babies.

Rafaela was the first to find her future husband, Rafael, ten years ago while studying at university. A year later, Rochele got together with Gabriel. It was parents Pedro and Salete who suggested the girls all get married together after Tagiane also got engaged to Eduardo. The only dilemma for Pedro, a farmer, was how he would walk all three daughters down the aisle at once.

triplets with family and husbands

They decided that the girls would walk half way down the church and Pedro would walk each individual girl down the aisle. The pews at the Nossa Senhora Aparecida catholic cathedral in Passo Fundo were moved apart to allow more space for the three brides to walk down the aisle together.

They were followed by 18 bridesmaids and page boys, each using the chosen color of the bride they were representing, yellow for Rafaela, blue for Rochele and red for Tagiane.

The first to be taken down the aisle was Tagiane who was the first born of the triplets. They all went together to get their hair and makeup done with intentions of looking different. But after trying several different styles they all wanted the same one.

What a special moment to share with your sisters, and a great way to remember for years to come of how close and important they are to each other.

What did you think of this triple wedding? Would you share your special day with your sibling(s)?

Paris Fashion Week – From Runway to Aisle

From Runway To Aisle; Recapping SS ’15.

For those of us who aren’t graced with a willowy 6-foot stature, walking down the aisle is our runway moment. We’ve compiled a handy guide to the modern (yet timeless) trends of Spring ’15 that you can easily incorporate into your nuptial attire. The trick is pick the trend that best reflects your natural style so your bridal look reveals the most confident, radiant you.

Fur – Whether you prefer faux or real, a plush touch evokes a regal feel. This trend is also great for brides whose weddings are planned during the height of winter. We especially love the brocade mix seen during Dennis Basso’s show

Fringing – Flippy fringes are great for adding movement to looser silhouettes. We spotted it on hems or decorating chic cover-ups. Destination wedding? We especially love the Pucci poncho in the middle for a beachfront ceremony.

Sheer Reveal – If you’re the kind of gal who can’t quite commit to that Tourney design, this season was full of softer, subtler ways to show some skin. Zuhair Murad tops the list as our peekaboo favorite with designs for before and after the ceremony. For a look that’s a bit chaster, try Rochas.

Well ladies, what style will you choose for the big day? Be sure to let us know in the comments!

Dress Twice as Nice

One of my favorite trends to hit the wedding market is the just say yes to the reception dress mentality so many brides have taken on! Tons of brides will tell you that the most exciting part of the wedding planning process is finding that perfect gown, but now brides don’t have to limit themselves to just one. How often do you get to wear a wedding dress? You might as well wear two!

reception dress

The reception dress is literally just that – a dress picked out solely for getting your first dance and cake cutting on during your reception. While brides like to go for the traditional long and flowy or even poofy and princessy dresses for a dramatic walk down the aisle, even all bustled up they can still be a bit of a burden on the dance floor. You’re married! You deserve a wardrobe change. All those knee-high or even itty bitty mini wedding dresses you see in the boutiques that have you scratching your head? This is the time to break them out. You get to slip into a fun party dress that allows you more movement and lets face it, more comfort! Wedding dresses have corsets and boning and can actually tip the scales at 20 or even 30 pounds, and you just don’t need all the gown weighing you down.

reception dress

Keep the whole bridal theme up by going with a white dress for the reception too, and pair that leg-looker with a hot pair of stilettos now that your tootsies will be on full display! Worried about kicking up those heels for hours on end? Throw some Dancin’ Feet® cushions from your Mojuba Bride Bag in your soles and you’ll be dancing on air until you make your grand exit.
